Mandala Fine Art Gallery, a newly-launched visual arts collaborative in Singapore, has launched its first large-scale exhibition — displayed November 7–15, 2015 at Orchard Gateway — on the world’s wildlife populations.

As there more than 200 art exhibits in the form of sketches, paintings, photography and sculptures ALL around Orchard Gateway, let me (together with Yuki Ng, Shaun and CK Chai) take you on a brief virtual preview tour so that you know where to find (and appreciate) EVERY single exhibits by the talented artists in Orchard Gateway.

The art pieces were carefully curated by Mandala art consultants and this 10 day exhibition will give everyone of us the opportunity to view and experience the wildlife-focused art, see how the artists capture the beauty and vastness of wildlife through their art pieces and be aspire to play a part to safeguard these endangered animals.

Level 3: The Tube Viewing Gallery ->

The Tube Viewing Gallery Mandala Wildlife Orchard GatewayYou can either start viewing from basement 2 of Orchard Gateway OR from the level 3 -the tube viewing gallery (the bridge which leads to Orchard Gateway @ Emerald. Mandala Wildlife Shaun OwyeongOne of Shaun’s favourite artwork is “Lion” by Fernando G.Herrera (SGD$5800) which uses ballpoint pen and oil on panel.

Level 2: Unit 02-05->

After the walking through the tube, take the escalator down to level 2 of Orchard Gateway, #02-05, where you will enter into a room filled with beautiful and impressive paintings + sculptures. This attempt to involve the public is also happening in Thixendale, England. Yorkshire wildlife artist and former Woldgate School pupil Robert Fuller is having his art exhibition on Saturday (7 November 2015) in hope to inspire and educate the public.
Mandala Wildlife Orchard Gateway Yuki NgThere were several paintings such as “The White Tiger” which were very majestic at the first glance. However, on a closer look, you will see the plight of the creatures in crisis.

Basement 1: Lobby B->

Moving down to basement 1, just beside the Lift Lobby B and Exit D from Somerset MRT Station, there’s a quiet corner featuring more art works. Mandala Wildlife Basement 1 Lobby BUnknown to many, due to changes in climate, manmade and natural disasters, deforestation, demand for food and other causes, the world’s populations of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish have declined by a staggering 52% in the last forty years according to livingplanetindex.org. Unknown or Immune? I’m not sure, but the facts are right in front of us.

Basement 2: Orchard Gateway @ Underground Fashion Street <-

At basement 2, along the underground fashion street, there’s a long stretch of exhibition in the middle of the passageway leading to Orchard Gateway @ Emerald.
Tiffany Yong copyThis colourful “street” is a place with a few of 3D-illusion art pieces on the floor as well as funky wallpapers on two sides.  Mandala Wildlife Orchard Gateway Tiffany YongYou can either start from the exhibits next to Watsons, where Joseph Anthony’s photo of the giraffe “Standing Tall” (SGD$1080) is.

Mandala Wildlife SpunkPunkFunk copyAlong the stretch, there will be photographs of the endangered animals such as the African Elephants, the rhino, tigers and lions… Mandala Wildlife Orchard Gateway @EmeraldEnding just before Orchard Gateway @ Emerald, try to count how many species you have seen on the artwork and share with me your favourite exhibit! A friend asked me why was I so enthusiastic and passionate about this Mandala Wildlife exhibition. I guess it was because of my involvement with NUS People Ending Animal Cruelty and Exploitation (PEACE) and NUS Students Against Violation of Earth (SAVE). The knowledge and awareness will any human want to protect these inspiring wildlife.

The target is to raise $100,000 for WWF Singapore and WildAid Shark Savers, from both the art auction (30%) and total public art sale (3%). So do support the artist and their efforts by visiting the Mandala Wildlife Exhibition at Orchard Gateway this week if you can!   3. I have to say those wildlife artwork look like photographs. So realistic. I also like the lion one like your boyfriend. I support the WWF and its advocacy to save our flora and fauna. The progress of the world is fast depleting their environment, and people have to care. – Fred
