Experiencing Pattaya Attractions & Fun Activities To Do

Experiencing 6 Pattaya Attractions: Cultural Activities and Fun Entertainment

I didn’t know much about Pattaya nor its attractions prior to the invitation by Tourism Authority of Thailand (Singapore). Upon some word-of-mouth research, it was then I realised that Pattaya was popular amongst tourists for their intense and colourful nightlife! Ushered by the local guides, I got to explore something beyond the infamous sex industry, immersing in cultural, religious and adventurous fun which you might not know!

So here’s 6 Pattaya attractions where I will be ranking and categorising them so that you can find activities that best suit your interest when you next visit Pattaya!

1. Thai Thani Arts and Cultural Village (ไทธานี หมู่บ้านวัฒนธรรมและศิลปะ พัทยา)

Recommended for people who want to learn about the Thai culture and traditional activities
Thai THani Arts and Cultural Village PattayaIt’s not my first time visiting a cultural village. While it’s convenient to have a place where you get to understand a culture, I often felt like a visitor at a zoo, watching animals people perform for us and maybe get to do some simple activities. But at Thai Thani Arts and Cultural Village (五组城堡), I experienced something beyond that.

Pattaya Attractions Thai Cultural Activities in PattayaIn this “village” you will get your hands-on doing so many activities that you can easily spend an entire day in the village. Not only can you experience Songkran festival (any day of the year) at Thai Thani, you will get to learn how to weave and make your own flower lanterns, paint your own umbrella and enjoy a short little herbal massage using Thai’s very own herbal bag! If you love the herbal smell, you can even buy them home!

2. The Sanctuary of Truth (ปราสาทสัจธรรม)

Recommended for photographers and people interested in religious sculptures, infrastructures or seeking for inner peace.
Sanctuary of Truth PattayaBesides being one of the longest standing architecture (which seems to be forever under construction), the Sanctuary of Truth was used as a filming set in Vegas to Macau II, where the majestic and elaborated wooden infrastructure was featured. Contrary to many beliefs, this is 105 meters high, all-wood private property is not a temple, but a project initiated by a Thai businessman Lek Viriyaphant in 1981.
Wooden Carvings Sanctuary of Truth PattayaI couldn’t help but feel at peace when I enter this heritage site. Made up of two different types of wood, the hand-carved wooden sculptures within th building had the ability to calm oneself down and take some time to discover the images that come from not just Buddhism, but also Hindu religions and mythologies of Cambodia, China, India and Thailand. What made this visit more interesting was how the guide who brought us around was not a Buddhist, but a Christian! Her detailed explanation was heartwarming, as it made me feel how every one seems to be at peace, happy and respectful of one another’s religion!

TAT at Sanctuary of Truth PattayaWhile this is not exactly a temple, appropriate dressing is still necessary (same for most temples in Thailand). If you’re wearing shorts, skirts or dresses, you will be required to purchase/ rent a sarong to enter the sanctuary.

3. Baan Sukhawadee (บ้านสุขาวดี)

Recommended for photographers and people interested in religious sculptures.
Taj Mahal PattayaWhen I first arrived to Baan Sukhawadee, we were brought straight into the building as the hot sun was burning. I thought I was brought into a palace! What’s cooler is how this “Taj Mahal” of Thailand is made up of my 2 most favourite colours – pink and tiffany blue. Sukhawadee means purity – happiness – wealth. Pink stands for love and promote the need to love and be loved and be unified with the group. The blue stands for water which marks the beginning of many lives. Water can adjust its shape with any surrounding, existing in three different states.
Pattaya Attractions Baan Sukhawadee PattayaBuilt in the year 2000, this used to be the residence for Mr. Panya Chotitawan, the owner of Saha Farm, one of the biggest agricultural product exporters of Thailand. Aside from the majestic scenery and landscape, the two buildings also hold several holy images for worship such as the Lord Buddha at birth Image, the Goddess of Mercy, King Taksin the Great, King Chulalongkorn the Great, Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak, the father of Royal Thai Navy, etc.

Popular amongst the tourists from China, many devotees visit this place to pay their respects to the Goddess of Mercy in hope to have their prayers answered. They even have a lotus figurine made up of pure gold.

Pattaya BuddhabarameeThere’s also the Buddhabaramee Building, a luxuriously decorated convention hall with the floor covered by the biggest carpet in Asia Pacific. The building exhibits the beautifully decorated Relics of Lord Buddha and hold meeting rooms for organizing activities of Saha Farm and affiliated companies. Aside from these house tour, tourists can also shop for Saha Farm products and even dine while watching performance in the evening.

1. Ramayana Water Park Thailand (สวนน้ำรามายณะ)

Recommended for adventurous and water theme park lovers
Ramayana Water Park PattayaIf you love theme parks and water slides (like me), this newly opened RamaYana Water Park Pattaya – one of the biggest water theme parks in Southeast Asia – will be a haven for you. Spanned over 40 acres, there are so many water features that you can easily spend one whole day at this water theme park. It is 1.5 hours drive from Bangkok and 15 kilometers south of Pattaya City.
Activities in Ramayana PattayaOffering 21 water slides, you can either play alone or go down in pairs using either mat (mat racer), using floats in the wave pool or just slide down the Freefall (orange) slide. This thrill slides were amazing (yes, I’ve tried them) as I have to get into a capsule-like container (think of the container Steve Rogers was in when he transformed into Captain America), the bottom will be released and I will slide out an almost 90 degree slide.

Pattaya Attractions Pattaya Water Theme ParkYes, be amazed by these slides supplied by WhiteWater West from Canada. Those who aren’t in for the crazy  slides can take the 600m long lazy river where there’s waterfalls, waves and bubbles, taking you around a natural hill. If there’s any place I will go back again myself with my friends, it will definitely be the RamaYana Water Park!

2. Teddy Bear Museum Pattaya (พิพิธภัณฑ์ เทดดี้ แบร์)

Recommended for couples, families and teddy bear lovers
Activities in Teddy Bear Museum PattayaConfession: This is better than Trick Eye Museum. I’m not exactly a fan of soft toys or cartoons, but visiting the Teddy Bear Museum totally brought out the kid I never knew existed in me. This first-ever Teddy Bear Museum is photo-worthy from the moment you take the escalator up (before reaching the ticketing booth) to the point where you complete your tour.
Fun at Teddy Bear Museum PattayaSo why is this fun? Not only are there elements of optical illusions, there are also life size teddy bears where you can take countless photos with. Most importantly, their lighting is good enough for a mobile cameras to take nice photos. If the water theme park represents action fun, the Teddy Bear Museum provides you with lots of photo memories for keepsake. It will be an insult to share the fun I had in a just 3 photos, so keep a lookout for a more detailed post about the Teddy Bear Museum soon!

Tiffany’s Show Pattaya (ทิฟฟานี โชว์ พัทยา)

Recommended for people who are interested in theatre, cabaret, ladyboy performance.
Tiffanys Show Cabaret PattayaThis is the first time I hear my name mentioned sooooo many times during a trip. And it’s because of this leading cabaret show we were invited to – Tiffany’s Show Pattaya, one of the most popular Pattaya attractions! The Tiffany’s Show is one of the world’s most famous transvestite cabaret show with more than 2000 people every night enjoying or spectacular performances. If you haven’t been to any, this 42 year-old award-winning performance will probably set a high benchmark to any other shows in Thailand.
Joe Labero Magic Show PattayaFrom what we understand, the world class performance will change its segments regularly so that returning audience won’t be bored by the same content. This time, we had the theme “World’s First Magic in Fantasy” featuring famous Swedish Magic Master Joe Labero who combined performance with magic and bedazzle the audience with his flawless shows.

Pattaya Attractions Tiffanys Show PattayaI was pretty embarrassed by how I thought the performance was made up of a mixture of females and transvestites, as some of the performers was s amazing gorgeous that I couldn’t believe they aren’t ladies. So yes, besides the entertaining performances, you will get to witness the glamour of past few years’ Miss International Queens champions and winners.

P.S. I hear that The Tiffany’s Show will be arriving in Singapore this December, performing on the eve of Christmas and Christmas itself for the Singapore audience!

  1. I just remember a client who lives in Thailand. She invited me to visit her but I declined since I am not ready yet. If only I’d be given a chance to visit the place again, I’ll surely won’t miss the opportunity. I didn’t know that Thailand has so much things to offer. I’ll also take note of this. Who knows, I’d be given an invite once again. 😀
